A client bought 10 of these chairs and needed 12, so I made a couple more.

They are white oak legs and the rest of the chair was upholstered.

Hand carved and lightly disstressed to match the orginal chairs.

I had 62 hours in each chair.

That’s a lot of time you put in there, but you have excellent results.

Having followed your posts I am not surprised at the amount of time you put into a project. You pay a lot of attention to detail and your workmanship is simply outstanding. I daresay that a lot of shops would have turned this work down simply because it so unique.

Thanks for sharing, Les.

Les,

Fantastic work, especially given the fact that you had to copy perfectly old chairs. Let me ask you this: how do you find people willing to pay for 62 hours of work/ chair (or for your tables for that matter)?

Alin,

The work comes to us through designers and architects, we hardly ever go looking for it. We work up a bid and they take or they don’t. I do all the bidding and some times I do good and sometimes I don’t. If I remember correctly I went over time on these by about 12 or 13 hours apiece, they were done several years ago.

Thanks all for your comments!

amazing. Unbelievable that someone could recreate/copy such a piece of work. Well done.
