I made this plaque as a gift for my son, a pilot for Harbour Air Seaplanes based out of Vancouver. The plaque is 3/4” laminated pine, but I didn’t want the cutting to be that deep, so I routed out 1/2” on the back part where the airplane is so that the cutting is only 1/4” thick. I then inserted a black poster board with a thin ply backing. The lettering is cut from 1/4” Cherrywood. Five coats of spray lacquer applied.

Thanks, guys for the comments. My son said that the seaplane cutting was ‘Bang On’. He loves it.
