We delivered this hickory wall unit to a very happy customer about 2 weeks ago. Back of upper unit is all v-grooved T&G solid hickory. Mortise and tenon joinery is used throughout the project. Finish is Daleys Autum Sable stain and ML Campbell conversion varnish. The unit is 9’ 6” wide by 7’ 5” tall and is made up of the lower base with the doors and the upper section. The upper section weighed about 300 lbs.

The design was done by a very talented interior designer we work with.

The second picture shows the CNC machine cutting out parts from a sheet of hickory plywood.

The third picture is my portable drying rack that comes apart and stores under my tablesaw. Great design from a colleague who also owns the Shopbot CNC machine.

Oh, you’re just so proud of your giant CNC machine! Just kidding, looks great.

I’ll second the looks great. The color and finish are very appealing.

Wonderful job. Really like your drying racks. Why not post them as a separate project or blog? I wouldn’t mind making a set of them.

Nice work this is a real beauty! When I saw the CNC I thought well he cheated! But that thought comes from me only being 100% jealous that I don’t have one. LOL

Really nice I can see why they loved it!

Thank you for all the kind comments.

I will post some more pictures of the drying rack along with MDF sheet layouts. There are a LOT of arms that need to be cut. I cut 84 out of three sheets of MDF and that gave me drying space for 42 pieces.

I don’t mean to brag but the CNC made very short order of cutting the arms. I could offer to cut them and ship them for people that are interested. I hope I’m not overstepping my bounds with that offer. If there is interest, I could figure out pricing – again not meaning to overstep any bounds.
