I made this frame for My friend Brooks and his pal and mine Scrapper. It is similar to the Ancient China frame Project, only I didn’t distress this one with a baseball bat. The frame is made out of Poplar and constructed with biscuits. I painted it with a series of different shades of blue paint and rubbed it out with a cloth while each coat was still wet. I finished it with a couple of clear coats just to protect the paint.
The matting is cardboard and cloth nearest the outside edge and regular acid free matboard with beveled edges closest to the art. Speaking of art, take a look at the cool picture made with various types of media By Erin Bishop. Quite a talented young lady don’tcha think? She really made it a challenge to make a unique frame for such a unique piece of art to capture our buddy Scrapper!
Sorry about the terrible pics, I’ll try to updat them with some better ones soon.

Thanks Gary, I like making this style of frame, the contruction is easy and you can use your imagination for the theme… I had a hard time matching Erin Bishop’s artwork, she’s really good!
Had a chance to check out your shop pics recently. You must never want to leave such a fine workspace!!!

I like handmade frames. The color scheme that you chose here works well with the artwork.
Thanks for the post.

Thanks Scott, I have been admiring some of your work and I will have to make a plant stand like the one you made. I want to start a small conifer farm soon. I need some color around my shop!
