A picture frame specifically built in memory of my Papa, given as a gift to my Gramma.

I found a perfect sized piece of glass, an amazing board of Ash (oak and ash were my Papa’s favourite woods to work with). The whole front is behind glass (including the piece of wood at the bottom, this area meant for my Papa’s nameplate from Lodge. Although he may be shaking his head at the thought that I did this without a pattern or even a measuring tape…it turned out exactly how I imagined it.

The sadness of losing him still pains me, but the look in my Gramma’s eyes when I gave her the framed picture will stay with me always. I hope that the woodworking projects I work on, putter with, complete…will become as amazing as those of that great man that inspired me.

Very nice frame, and tribute to your father.

Even without the name plate, I like the bottom-weighted design.

What a great tribute to your Papa and your Gramma. I am sure that your Papa has a big smile and a warm thought that you made this for both your Gramma and Papa. It is a very nice frame. Looks to me like your Papa has inspired you in more than just your craftsmanship.

What a great way to remember your Papa, and I am sure that your gramma will cherish it always. You are very talented and didn’t even use a measuring tape, amazing!

Thanks for sharing
