I recently completed this project and my good firend encouraged me to put it on LumberJocks, so here it is.
We have enjoyed the deck tremendously. The protion of the deck where the Hot Tub is located existed, however, I let a friend cut a tree down next to the deck and he fell the tree onto the original deck and totally destroyed it. WE began with the portion of the deck where the hot tub sets. After a through cleaning of that portion we decided that it would be OK to utilize it and add to. We tripled the size of the deck and constructed a swing as an anniversary present to my Wife. We also built a fire pit with a brick base and brick wall. Originally the fire pit set directly on the deck but we found that sparks jump and will char the deck in short order. The base of the deck is faced with bricks with a ledge that my wife displays several potted plants. She also found planter boxes that fit perfectly over the railing on the deck sides.
As is typical from the beginning stages of this project the deck size increased by at least 50% from original plans. You can never treat yourself to good especially when dealing with natural resources like WOOD.

This probably took a lot of planning. I have never seen a fire pit on a wood deck. Definately outside the box…....

Nice job, Danny. Great to see it on here but better seeing it in person. It looks especially nice with all the flowers around .

You’ll have to post your latest project too.
