Since I do not have the fancy tools for hollowing this type of bowl I just cheated some.
Took two pices of cherry and CA glued 1/8th x 1/2×1/2 inch small maple pieces on one then glued two top board on to them like a sandwich. Marked out my circle on both sides. turned them on center and got the shape I wanted then trued up the centers with parting tool down about 1/2 inch. After that i parted them apart and then hollowed out the inside of each half. CA glued them to gather and finish the bottom and turned center hole. Sanded to 400 then applyed BLO, two coats, then BLO and beeswax.
The one pic shows it setting on a plastic cup so you can see the under it. Its about 3/16 thickness on the walls and 1/8 inch on the top. The bottom is so thin I could not do a final cut, it flexed so much, had to sand starting at 60 grit. The fifth pic shows some of my other work.

Very nicely done. I also like the way you added the wood to get what you wanted.
