This is a men’s valet box for my Dad. I was going to subtle masculinity, ha. Most of my other projects have stark contrasts between wood species and this one I wanted to be much more subtle. In fact, it may be TOO subtle, but I like it nonetheless. I have to point out the vertical cherry stripes in the lid to most people, which I like, because it tells me that the eye flows right past them. The key splines are also cherry, but blend in with the red oak rather well. Finished in BLO and poly.
The lid was later secured with barrel hinges.
Thanks for looking!
