This is my first attempt at making a piece of furniture. I saw the picture of this in a Wood magazine and thought it would be a challenge to make. I am a very amatuer woodworker. The piece is made from pine with box joints on the drawers. Any feed back would be appreciated.

Hmm, first piece? Looks like you have found the right hobby. ;)
The only thing that jumps out at me is the bottoms of the drawers. Applied like that, they will eventually fail if loaded to any extent. Wood set in grooves will last longer.
On a scale of 1 to 10 as a first project, I would give it about a 23.

Wow, thanks for the great comments.
Rick- I started with red mahogany stain then i used a dark walnut over that. Finished with spraying brushing laquer .
David- you are absolutely correct. I made the drawers then realized I forgot to route a groove for the bottom. I have a bad habit of rushing through a project.

I really like the style and design. I don’t think I would of used pine for a piece like that because of how it stains unevenly, unless I’m going for the country look. Amatuer woodworker but not an amatuer final result though. Nice job.
