Hello all,

After looking around here on LJ for a while…this is my first post!

This is actually my second box. The first box I made, was with mitered corners and splines. It was off-square like !%$@#.
I used oak, meranti, pine and some other scrap. Everything is solid wood. I finished it with 2 coats of varnish.

I also made some pictures (with my new samsung galaxy s II , mmmmm) from my very little shop.
If you guys and girls like to see them, I’ll post them too.

I forgot: The dovetails are handcut. First completed set ever. (after 5 little corner excercise examples).
I think not bad for a starter-woodworker.
Thank you all for your projects here on LJ’s. I’m still looking almost every day.

With all these firsts, you must have fantastic natural talent for this to have come out so beautifully.

I like your work! These sure do not look like the work coming from a beginner’s shop!

I get it…you’re a beginner at posting. But, how long have you been mastering woodworking? Nice box. Really nice work

Nice box! It looks like the bow is wood and the wooden ribbons wrap the box.

Yes, please load the pics of your workshop.

Pfffff…...thank you all for your friendly comments. I appreciate.

The bow and the ribbons are “thick” shavings on the edge of a solid stock.
I long time ago I saw something similar, but I can’t remember if it was wood.
Altough, I made the shavings, spray them wet with water and then “put it into form”.
After drying, they will keep the “bow-profile”.

I’m learning a lot from reading magazines and here on LJ. I even think in English while I’m working on a project. I don’t even know all the technical terms and words in dutch!! :)

Thanks again all.
