I made these a couple of years ago for a friend. He needed some 11×11 inch picture frames to put these funny calendar pics into and told me not to make them too “fancy”.
They’re made of pine scraps that I distressed before staining and finishing with poly. I used dark walnut on the first one and golden oak on the other 2 but left the last one natural.
These half-lapped frames were very fun to make but took about 3 times longer than making “simple” frames. I think, they ended up being a perfect match for this artwork. Tell me what you think.

Those turned out very nice. I agree they take longer to build (I have made a few of them over the years) but well worth the time.
