Made this little desk and chair a few months ago for my 3 year old daughter, it was one of those ‘make it up as you go along’ projects. She needed somewhere to keep all her art supplies (she loves painting and drawing) and it made sense to incorporate it into a little easel. It’s pretty much a very simple box on legs with a hinged lid that locks into a near vertical position so she can stand up and paint. The centre square is her chalk board, the coloured circles are removable pots of paint set into the top and set inside is a roll of lining paper that feeds out of the space between the hinges and clips to the top of the lid to give her an endless supply of paper for her masterpieces. The chair is made from 6mm ply panels that slot together with a single screw in from the back to hold it all together (should have used a through tenon and wedge but i’d already cut the seat by the time i thought of that, like i said, made up as i went along). This is my first post on LJ’s, been looking around for a while and I have to say I’m totally in awe of the level of talent you all have, it really has inspired me to try harder, which has got to be a good thing. Thanks for taking the time to look at my first post and keep doing what you do.

Love it – the chalkboard & roll of paper for painting is a great idea. I think my son will love one of these (of course, he’s only 6 months so he’ll have to wait a bit…) Great job.

That is a totally cool well thoughtout idea. Make more and sell them, I think this is a product that will move.
Great job.

Looks like a lot of fun for the miniature artist! This is a really great project. At 40 years old, I’d like one;)
