hey LJsHere are some door stoppers I made from barn wood. I don’t know what kind of wood this is, I don’t think it’s oak i’ts a little dark for that. What do you think it is?Thanks Matthew

Old Barn ~ could it be Chestnut? If it is: save it for something better than a door stop; although you did a super nice job. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chestnut

If it is chestnut, I’ll make something allot better than an old door stopper. thanks for telling me I was thinking it could be black locust because the barn I got it from was our 38 acre farm an the land had allot of black locust trees.What do you think? Thanks Matthew

I don’t think it’s chestnut, it might be white oak. look at the end grain. biggest difference between white oak and red oak is that white oak pores are filled in.

Great job. Looks like oak to me in the second photo, lots of rays and pores.

Nice job on the door stops. I’ll be they work good and are easy to retrieve with that ball on the end.
