This is just a flea market find. Paid 10 bucks for it. I wish I took a before photo for reference purposes. This plane was in bad shape, but with a little bit of work she is now back in business. Works wonderfully and looks a lot better!! I don’t think she is a collectible so all you purists don’t have to worry(if it is, OOPS). A good user for when I don’t want to reach for my LN.

Nice find. I bet Tomcat will enjoy seeing this post. I agree with Debbie about the before pictures. I really like the tote and the knob. Did you refinish these as well?
Thanks for sharing.

Actually Scott, I do enjoy these posts a great deal! :)
Apparently, I’ve got a reputation for being an old tool guy or something! Have you had a chance to work out what type it is yet? If not, let me know. When I get home, I can PM you a website that’ll help you work it out.
Great job by the way! It looks brand new!

Its just a Bailey no 4. For what I understand these are not rare at all.
Scott, yes I did. I sanded them down to bare wood then put a cherry stain on them. After that is a combination of linseed and many many coats of poly.

Looks great, doesn’t matter what the name is or any of that fashionable non-since. If it works good then it’s a good plane. Nice job.

You did a great job here! Try “Googling” the name and model number…I did with my Sargent 714 and found a dealer who was selling the same for $239.00! It’s not what mine’s worth but it does give me a ballpark figure, and definately makes it a keeper!
