After I got the “no more boxes” ultimatum from my wife, I built these 2 mini-chests but they didnt fool her! They are currently looking for homes as they cant come in the house. The first is recycled doug fir from my dads barn. The second is cedar resawed from a beam from an old house in Ks. Dimensions: 12×7x7”. Finish is wiped on spar for the first and cherry stain, BLO, and wax for the second. Im hoping someone will adopt them soon as Im running out of space in the shop to store boxes but I cant quit making them!

Maybe your wife and my wife should get together and make a deal. Like maybe they could take turns hosting our boxes. All of them go to your house for a month, then they all come to my house for a month…

Really nice rectilinear containers.
Nice, tight fitting container joints, too

More often than not, we see contrasting wood used in making visible joints for contrast. But you accomplished the contrast even with the same kind of wood! Excellent, Andy!

I think I would try, I’m bored, guess since I cannot make any more boxes I’m off to the strip club. Not sure if it would work or you would get hit up side the head. But I might try something like that….

The fir is beautiful. I can’t believe she won’t let these into the house … even with the title change to mini-chests! Wives see right through those tricks, don’t they.

Thanks for the nice comments. Charlie – who pays for the moving van it would take to haul our boxes back and forth? Gene – Very clever. Wayne – I like it but I’m afraid it could get me evicted or worse, she might break my dinner plate!

Build a large box addition… to store the boxes!
I agree with everyone above … lovely boxes suitable for “in the house” use.

Great boxes! Same thing happened to me with my bowls! NO MORE she said. (That’s when I started on guitars and she’s almost to the same point again! What’s a fella’ to do? I’d try the strip club routine, but she’d probably say ‘thank goodness, it’d be cheaper!’ Oh well.

Nice boxes!!! You could build a second house for your stuff, that way you wouldn’t
be cluttering up your wifes house…;)

Put something in them then they are no longer just boxes.

Nice work, even if she doesn’t think so.
