This is a bent wood arm chair that spent part of its life in a funeral home. When it came to me it was broken and the finish was in rough shape. A little repair and some refinishing and it look great. The seat had been rewoven before it came to me. I used Murphy’s oil soap and a soft brush for a deep cleaning. Then I finished it with Minwax oil finish.
In doing this I learned that there were several factories in Europe that specialized in bent wood and the company that was started by the man who patented and developed the process. This is the company that made this chair. Bent wood chairs are reasonable, available and usually an easy restoration project. Thanks for looking

I like the chair, did you do the wicker weave?
I like your jumbo Alvarez.

Seeing as it’s from a funeral home, I’ll just say it’s drop dead gorgeous. :-)

Hey Roz, stepping up a notch here, I like this one, that is one very very lovely chair.
I bought an ole Edwardian chair some years ago at an auction which was in a hell of a mess, it had been previously repaired by some real tradesman but since let go if you will, it was a pleasuer to restore with all it’s ivory inly etc & now hosts one of sandra’s lttle dolls, should have taken a photo before I started.
Will send you a shot of it noe on a PM after I take a photo in the morning.
Cheers mate
