Inspired by Steve's Guitar Pick Holder, I’ve built one for my youngest son. I found a block of 8/4 Poplar in the trash barrel. I saw the two tone wood there and couldn’t see it going to the dump. Oh, and the finish was simply a coat of Thin CA glue.

I sorta winged it as to the shape, going on memory. I saved the cutout from the center section and included it in the project as an insert. By turning it over, it makes a nice contrast. Thanks to Steve for the inspiration.

I like the two tone look. It turned out real nice. I bet your son was very happy with it.

Beautiful! Love the idea to use the center part.
