I built my aunt and uncle a bench for their 55th anniversary last month. I only had two days to build and finish the bench when I found out they were having a 55th anniversary, so I didn’t take time for photos. When I went to visit this afternoon, I found they liked the bench so much they didn’t use it as a dressing bench at the foot of their bed, they used it as a coffee table in the living room. I had a small plaque made for the bench with their names and the date so that future generations would know who the bench was made for and why. I always put a heritage plaque on cradles with the baby’s name and date of birth. Then the parents can add another brass plaque for each child that uses the cradle.

Like Popsnsons said “Excellent workmanship”. I also like the intended use -”a dressing bench”. As I spur of the moment choice that was an excellent idea. That they chose to use it in the front room as a coffee table must be flattering.

Nice bench/coffee table. It’s given me some ideas for my coffee table plans.

Craftsmanship is always better with love. The through tenons are a great detail. Did you design the bench, or where did the inspiration come from?
Fabulous job.
