Fun is what woodworking should be and the more projects you do the more experience you will gain.

Nice proportions to your box.

Pine is notorious for blotching. You might try using a coat of sealcoat shellac on pine before applying a stain as it will help control the blotching. It is easy to use and can be applied out of an aerosol can or wiped on with a cotton cloth.

This a great box for a new woodworker. Nice shape, lines, and proportion. Like Cato said, pine is hard to stain without looking splotchy.

If you have any way to make or get hold of 1/2” thick stock, you should try experimenting with that. It tends to give better proportionality to small boxes.

Keep ‘em coming!

Nice Pine Box, as stated, the proportions are good, mortised hinges are always good, great to see some of Your work, and to hear about the start of Your journey in woodworking, keep it up, thanks for sharing
