I resawed a short section of cedar beam a friend gave me, then resawed some redwood salvaged from our old deck. This box had a couple of firsts for me: the inset lid and the multi-layer splines which were both fun to figure out. The lid was too thin to drill for hinge pins so I attached hard maple blocks to avoid splitting my top out. This worked very well and I’ll do this again. Finish is BLO and wax.

Handsome looking box, Doc!

Nice job on that box.
Those splines give it an extra kick!

Nice box, intersting idea on the splines. That has me thinking.

Sharp box, the color is fantastic, your ingenuity is very creative, the splines look real nice, the entire box really is an eye catcher, great job, thanks for sharing
