This trio of boxes is also a firewood find. The body of the boxes were bandsawed out of the same piece of Osage Orange/Hedgeapple/Bois de Arc. The ends are pecan attached with 1/8” oak dowels. I like the boxes but HATE the hinges.

Grizz – I usually do wooden hinges [see my projects] but this one was before I learned better. I just got to where I can post stuff and this project is over a year old. You know how computer dyslexic I am! It took me all day to send you that e mail last weekend! Does this wood grow where you live?

They look great! Reminds me of the cedar ‘trinket’ boxes that used to be sold in souviener shops years ago.
Remember them?

Those are nice boxes. I love the Osage Orange. Most of it I get here in Mich or in Illinois is cracked so I can never make anything big with it. If you don’t like the hinges, I was thinking that the sides could be dovetailed so the lid slid off to the back with a stop built in to stop it just right in front to line up with the bottom….just a thought…............Jim

Wiggly, don’t they still sell the cedar boxes in the gift shops anymore???
