My wife asked me to build her a bookcase for here classroom. She was tired of the cheapo’s from the box stores shelves sagging when looked down with books. I told her i could fix that. The case stand 76” tall and 31” wide. The box and shelves are made from 3/4 oak ply. All she wanted was a plan ole book case. I saw this as an opportunity to practice making panels the i wrapped the face and sides in poplar i had laying around the shop. I didn’t have enough to make raised panels so i opted to use some 1/4 birch. She wanted it painted so once again i got to attempt a first for me. Spray painting with a gravity feed setup. I had already sanded every thing down to 220 during construction so i sprayed a coat of white kiltz. I then applied 2 coats of black painted, sanding between each coat. The finish is decent but after all this was basically a learning experience. The wife is happy so all is good
