A retiring colleague asked me to build this for him. His shadowbox is 20” wide by 16” high and made with red oak, using Varathane “walnut” oil based stain and Arm-R-Seal as the top coat. All four corner were cut to 45* angle on the miter saw and joined with a FF biscuit for added strength. The back is rabbeted 1/4” for the display and backer boards which are secured using picture frame swivel clips. I also routed a slight profile along the front to give it some visual interest and added a coin rack to the top to display some retirement coins. Thanks for looking…

Great job, athough it appears like you made a mistake…should have been a set of wings instead of the SWO pin..ha.

Nice job, Matt. Nice display. Did he want a separate flag box? I enjoyed looking at all of your shadow boxes.
Thanks for the post.

ALBCuttnWud, now why would you want to ruin a perfectly good Navy shadow box with a pair of tin plated buzzard wings when you could have a real warfare pin? ;)

Ken90712, I’d guess he was STA21 since he jumped from PO2 to Enswine.

Nice job, Matt.
