This is my first attempt at a bandsaw box, not real sure what it looks like! Someone told me the other day that it looks like the head on a gremlin! It was a project for my wife and she came up with the design. It is made from a buddys old cedar fence that he tore down. The pulls are some scrap maple and bloodwood that I had laying around. Didn’t want to spend much money on materials since this was a first for me. I think it turned out ok other that the drawers are rather small and not real practical. I want to flock the inside of the drawers and the bottom once I get the stuff to do it! It is finished with three coats of danish oil and four coats of Deft lacquer spray, then rubbed with clear paste wax. I can see getting addicted to making these, they are a really fun and fast project to complete and the possibilities are pretty much endless. Any constructive criticism would be very much appreciated. Thanks for looking.

I was thinking it looked more like an owl from the beak up.
The contrast looks great! (practical is overrated)

i think it has both gremlin and owl charactaristics….more owl than gremlin. Nonetheless, i think it turned out great.

Hey Dave, Where did you hide the cut in for the drawers? Nice design…I really like it. And free lumber makes it even better

Thanks for the comments guys! I agree with you guys definately an owl!
Hawaiilad – The cut in for the drawers are on the bottom on the outside edge of the drawers. Sort of hard to see in the pictures, which is a good thing!

Super looking box Dave. I haven’t tried one yet, but hope to one of these days. Nice to see a dual drawer box,

Very nice box. And, yes, you will become addicted to this style. Ask your wife for more great designs.
You might consider making the in-cut for the drawers from the middle inverted “V” cut with the grain along the bottom of the drawer and it should completely disappear when glued up.
Keep making sawdust!

I likes it. Looks like a very kool bow-tie. I like the wood combos as well.
