Our woodturning club has a monthly President’s challenge. For July the challenge was Patriotic. This is my President’s Challenge entry for July. Red, White and Blue 13” diameter ash platter. Took longer to paint it than what it did to turn it, but it turned out good. Used Valspar latex gloss paints followed by Deft spray on glass lacquer as a finish.

Looks like a captain america shield to me…needs a star in the middle!

Good lookin’ turning! I wish my lathe were big enough.

Now that you mention it….............
Finishing and or painting has always been the bane of my wood turning efforts.
My lathe is big enough, all I need now is a nice piece of Ash.
