Ash platter 13” in diameter dyed with U.S. Marine black shoe dye purchased at Tandy Leather Works. Finish is three coats of Minwax semi gloss wipe poly. Last coat was wet sanded with 1000 grit wet/dry sandpaper. Part of a commissioned series of ash platters.

Wounderfull mix between the black and the figured wood. The black almost give it a shine like metal. Must try to do something simular. I just love the surface of this plate.

I’ve seen a lot of Ash that has been dyed black lately and I LOVE IT!!!!! I never knew how to dye it black or what to use until now, THANKS!! This looks great!!!!!

now you should try one with liming wax on it! that would look sickk!
