This is an anniversary gift for my wife, a Jayhawk Jewelry box.
First let me start by saying I didn’t do the top. That was done by another LJ pro http://lumberjocks.com/projects/49427 I worked with him via email and told him what I wanted and he gave the options to make it rock. He did an amazing job.
This is a walnut box. The edges were done with a miter router bit. The bottom is a red velvet I will be adding a top self (that is why there is a lip around the inside) which will be blue velvet (the blue and red being KU’s colors). I just ran out of time to finish the self in time. I must say I learned a lot with box and although it really pissed me off at times because I would realize my wood working skills aren’t as good as I thought I did enjoy making this. With each project I try to do something new and learn, I did with this!
But the most important thing is my wife LOVES this. Although I see the errors I made and things I would have like to change she sees a great jewelry box made by hand…
