My 16 year old son and I have finished our second Ukulele. The neck is made up from glued up oak. The head is also oak that is doweled to the neck. The fret board is 3/16 oak ply. The body is a cigar box. Cigar box instruments were popular during the last great depression. We made some improvements on this, our second build. On this one we rounded the neck and put in an electric pickup. It sounds pretty good and we are planning our next one with more improvements.

Looks as if you both had a fun time together building this, and the box top is very nice. Nice work.

Great job. Love the cigar box instruments!
