Last year my wife bought me a guitar autographed by Les Paul. I needed to make a display case for it. I started with a plywood box and covered it with a vinyl fabric that kind of looks like an old tweed guitar case. The top frame is made from 3 inch wide cherry and 2 inches tall. I cut 1/8th strips of cherry and flame birch to put an alternating edge banding on it just like a guitar. I finished the sides of the top frame with a 3/8 wide band of flame birch on the top and bottom. Case is lined with burnt orange velvet and the guitar is screwed into the mount through the strap buttons. I am waiting for a mint condition 45 record of Les Paul and Mary Ford from an old friend to put in with it.

Hey, Keith. Incredible present and very nice display case.

I had hoped to somehow make it up North to see Les play as I knew he was a regular at a club.

I had a BB King Lucille that I sold to a guy that knew he was going to meet BB and would be able to get the autograph on it. I shipped it overnight to get it there. He sent me the pics afterwards.
