Walnut Burl TV Cab

Project by woodwkr posted 660 days ago 473 views 3 times favorited 13 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This is a TV cab built with walnut and walnut burl veneer. It took 12 trimmed and book-matched flitches per door. The entire face came from a single burl. The outer trim veneer is ribbon stripe mahogany.
The first pic is in our showroom before delivery, and the next two are in the clients home.

That is a very nice cabinet. The veneer work is impeccable. When I opened this up all I could say to myself was WOW!!!!! I love the grain pattern from the burl.

How did you finish the piece?

That thing is HUGE!

Love the burl.

Not actually trying to be funny, but I swear I can see a Koala bear in the burl swirl.

Wow, that walnut is incredible. This is the kind of craftsmanship we all hope to achieve. An absolutely stunning piece.

That is one nice veneer job! Did you use a vacuum press?

Yes. We have two. One is a 4 X 8 with a hinged top and torsion box bed – - and the other uses various bags and platens ( the largest is 5 X 12 )
