A while ago LJ Wooden Frog posted this awesome ring http://lumberjocks.com/projects/50179 really like it, the off center metal band is so cool, so I decided I wanted to make one, but I didn’t want to completely copy so I decided to try a bracelet! So I ran down to my shop to find a suitable piece of metal. I have a fair amount of bits of metal in my woodshop, my husband does welding so I find scraps I “need”. The hunt for material was not going well, I found bits that were too thin or too small or too thick or bent. As I was about to give up and make something else I spotted a piece of plexi-glass. It isn’t metal, but I figured I would try. I used 1/2 “ walnut and 1/4 “ cedar (from a re-claimed fence board) in this bracelet. I made the bracelet by cutting it out on the scroll saw and lots of sanding. The pendant was made from the bit that was cut out of the middle. I sanded everything down really fine and finished with spray laquer. The plexi-glass is really pretty clear, I was sort of surprised by that.
The other two sets are from a piece of a branch that I saved from the fire pit last fall. They have some cool bug holes in the bark side. The copper wire on the one is really copper coated steel welding wire. My husband dropped a new spool of welding wire and broke it so it won’t fit in his welder any more. I took the wire and have yet to decide what I might do with it. I have used about a foot of it, and have like 400 feet to go.
Thanks for looking, any comments welcome!
