Rust patina platter

Ash platter 13 inches in diameter. The rim was textured and then a rust patina process was used. The back of the platter was textured and a segmented inlay was used for the center. Finish is several coats of Mimwax wipe on satin poly.

Jeff that is a great looking plater, What is the rust patina finish.

The patina is a two part process. The wood has to first be sealed and then a base coat is brushed on. The base coat has metal filings suspended in the paint. When that coat is dry a second base coat is brushed on followed by a coat of the accelerator. The accelerator brings out the rust color.
