Project Information

This is a cane I made for myself and a kinda cheesy walking stick for my brother, He loves it though!
The cane is two parts put together,The handle is sycamore from a park i sit at and listen to my MP3 player.I lost a
Brother in 2005 and he liked this park, so I found this piece of wood and thought it would make a nice cane handle.
I hade some wood sticks at my dads in KY and that is where the shaft came from, it is put together using a threaded rod from handle to shaft with copper pipe fittings made for the spacer to cover the connection it is then Gorrila glued together the tip is also a pipe fitting with solder melted into the tip. A Rubber tip over that. It is all stained with dark walnut with tung oil and poly over that I like it alot! It is kinda rustic looking and the shaft is crooked so I think it is cool. The walking stick I was just trying to make my brother something to have and use around my dads land in KY. It is a piece of (I think sycamore) It is about 60 inches long. I carved finger grooves in it and carved some kind of a spiral thingy I used the wood burner to burn the spiral thingy and the put his nfl team on it. (Bengals) It was done very quickly but turned out ok kinda like folk art I guess, He likes it and I enjoyed making it. I guess that is what counts! Thanks for looking!

Good looking sticks Frog , I also like those 'Found wood ' sticks the best . Each one is different and each brings thier own challenge when you work with them, kinda like a puzzle. So you still haven't found any diamond willow yet ? ..... hmmm. .....
