Yep, it’s another box, fresh out of the finishing department…
The sides of this one were made from Mahogany that Brother David, the Patron, was kind enough to send me a while back.
The top and bottom, some old White Oak drawer sides I scrounged from my Parent’s basement. They actually came from a bureau that belonged to my Great Grandmother… so it had some age and personal history attached to it.
The “hardware” is Cherry.
It’s bigger than I usually make and a little sloppy… No excuse, but my mind was distracted…
I was going to blog the hinge and lid-lift attachment, but it went uneventfully, and I’ve shown that half a dozen times anyway.
It’s not necessary for it’s original intent, so now I have to figure something to use it for…
But it had twelve pegs in the hinges… Isn’t there a twelve days of something? :)

I really like this! The hinges are awesome. It is cool too that you were able to use wood with some history to it.
Great project!
Sheila :)

Wonderful! I really like it…keep ‘em coming! I haven’t been active on LJ lately because now that I don’t have to heat the shop it’s full steam ahead with the work that has piled up. I feel very pleasantly swamped. Best, Stephen

So fine my friend, you might have been a little sloppy but that box is full of love.

I also think it came out really nice. The scrollwork on the top adds a nice touch.

Mike, I too like the scrool work and overall appearance. It gives it a colonial style perspective!!!!!! Nice box.
