I found this in the basement when I was looking at some leaky pipes today. My wife and I (though not in some time) foster kittens for a local animal rescue group. When we first got them we cut up a cardboard box that they could run around, in, through, on, whatever. Figured it would last a bit longer if I made it out of wood. Can’t remember how I finished it, but probably using a Minwax stain and polyurethane finish. Not the nicest piece, but certainly meets its function.

How did they respond? I take care of too many cats. 30 plus?? No one is adopting animals due to the economy. My wife has purchased items like your box, thinking “oh they will love this.” to her chagrin they ignored it or got bored quickly. Even shelters that are for “ferral cats” are not used. So I build what I think they will use, and keep their interest? Hope yous did the trick? Cat toys can be expensive.

my cat max is so fat she would never fit through those little holes lol

my other cat Moe however would love it. he can be on the other side of the house and if you put a box on the floor hes in it before you can blink. that cat loves boxes

We own two big cats that could give a crap less about this box or just about any other toy. This was for kittens that we fostered who are generally between 6 and 12 weeks old…very small and always in the mood to play

thanks for the support guys and good luck…it only took me a few hours and some scrap plywood to make so if your cats don’t like it no biggie
