When I moved into my apartment there were several spots that didn’t have thresholds so I told my landlord rather than buying them, I’d make them.
First photo, is one of the two red oak ones I made, finished with a stain that I made to match the pre-existing floor color.
Second one is another one of two made from Southern Yellow Pine with the same stain. When I purchased the wood at the lumber yard, I told the salesman what I was making and he kept trying to tell me that I should just buy pre-made thresholds rather than rough stock. I’m happy with my decision.
The third photo is a close up of the second threshold. Boy I really have to do a better job cleaning my floors, though it is tough to do in an old house with a dog and two cats.

Lookin’ good! Just run a Swiffer over that fluff, you will be amazed at how well it works.
Have your say...
