Ever have one of those days, when your stuck in your wood shop? In agony from not being able to go to work because of weather related issues? Well today was one of those days for me, minus the agony…lol
So I got busy on the lathe once more and turned this bowl from Birdseye mapel and blood wood.
I found I like turning blood wood although the smell reminds me of figs. Search me, It just does…lol.
Its about 8” at the top and 4” tall.
Thanks for taking a look!

Outstanding!
What type of finish did you use? That’s a gorgeous piece.

Wow. This is gorgeous. I am really beginning to enjoy these posts on turnings. The contrast between the woods is beautiful.
Thanks for sharing

I love a good turning! That’s an interesting shape. The vessel has an appeal. I like the contrast in woods.

I used a tongue oil for the finish, but not before polishing the wood to a shine before the tongue oil.
I love playing with the lathe but now its back to carving!
Thanks all for the comments.

love the design.. it looks like you have a ribbon wrapped around the wood to squeeze it in at the middle.

Beautiful! I’m sure this is a much better contribution to the world than anything you would have done at work. <g>
