My first handmade dovetails!

I’ve made this box to practice some dovetails. It was the first time I did it, and it took a while before there were ready. But I think it doesn’t look all too bad for the first time…. :)

The woods that are used are Walnut and Hard Maple. The finish is 3 layers of Danish Oil…

Thanks for looking!

What a nice little home for sharp things. Might have to make once myself for auger bits soon.

Impossible to see its your first “tails”. I fully understand the need to build a “home” for your chisels. I do it my self :D

Well done.

Very nice.
If I was a chisel, I would want to live there.

Good job on those dovetails,
Steve

First-time dovetails….very nice!!
I never cut 1 dovetail, but thinking of starting the first-time is growing in my head.

Gelderland…..lot’s of family living there.

Did you make the chisel-handles yourself?
Keep up the nice work!

Thanx Bas!

When you completed your first dovetail, is it a very satisfying feeling :) I can’t wait to do the next tails!

Where does your family live in Gelderland? I’m from Kesteren, nearby Tiel.

The handles of the chisels are standard Pfeil, but that was the reason why i have chosen for Walnut. It matches great!

Greets to you too!
