In 2009, a couple who’ve collected a lot of my works asked me to design and build a “simple” bench for their walk in closet/ bathroom. Needless to say… I got carried away. They loved the bench and eventually ended up in their living room. I still have to build them their bathroom bench… :) The slats for the seat is made from ipil and dowelled through and through with Molave. The legs are molave and also doweled through and through with Iron wood and locked in place with ebony dowels.

Have a great weekend guys!

That is one gorgeous bench. I love the contrast between the top and the legs. I am also blown away with the simplicity, but yet it still has elegence. Wonderful job on this piece.

Beautiful bench. If your past projects are any indication of the things you build, you’ll never get a bench made that’s simple enough for the customer’s bathroom. I may not be a great designer myself, but I copy real good. I’ve got a bunch of thin wood strips left over from other projects. I may use them in a similar bench soon. Thanks for posting your project.

Fantastic bench Benji, even though i’ve never heard of either of the woods used, they look amazing. I love the design and the method of construction.

It’s obvious why this ended up in the living room…it’s beautiful and needs to be seen.

Very nice! Elegant design. Is there any stress problem since I cannot see what might pull the bench together and oppose the downward force?

Benji: A fantistic lookig bench. So simple in looks but a great designed project.

They saw the beauity to put it on display in their home.

Ridiculously beautiful. I saw the name, clicked, and waited for it….I was not disappointed.
