This box is an old one that i never really finished(till now ) . The sides are made with solid quilted maple , The lid is done with flaming cherry with birds eye maple stripes in the center . The hand made hinges are also made with the quilted maple . Te inside is lined with cedar and has two trays . One tray is tracked and the other is layed in its slot . This is a cigar humidor so of course i have the hygrometer and Humidifier they both are held in with magnets . The joints are half blind dovetails not hand done still to chicken to try=) ....the quilt on the maple is awesome …and the flame on the cherry is hard to record with the camera .. Thanks for looking comments welcome.

That is really awesome. I made a humidor for a friend of my last Christmas. I really struggled with the hinges. I tried to use brass humidor hinges, but they did not work like I wanted, so I just went with a more simple box hinge and mortised them in. It looks like you designed your box with a bit of space between the base and the lid. Am I seeing that correct in the picture? I presume you did that because it looks great and it gives you a much larger tolerance for lining up the base and the lid. The alignment was another challenging factor for me. Thanks for shareing

Beautiful box and the hinges are wonderful. Got to give them a tire some time.

The third dowel up from the bottom must be a fake right? Otherwise it doesnt appear the lid would open??? Or is this just dyslexia on my part?

Well done, Have to been able to hold the humidity steady in her so far? I have one with a glass top that just got re-filled a week or two ago.

Enjoy!

indianawoodbutcher….not sure what you mean …the top looks spaced because the lid lip is at an angle and the case lip is straight

gfadvm…. originally the hinge was not going wrap around to the top but decided to because i didnt think i had enuff bite to connect the top

ken90712,BuyoMasilla … i dont know i dont smoke …just built it to put on my site …its my second case . My frst case holds it well so my bud says =)
