I just finished this Mother’s Day present just in time for Father’s day. Better late than never. I made it from a piece of Orange Agate with a Walnut strip in the lid. It is actually for my Mother-In-Law. I had more fun making this one than the first one since I knew how to not make as many mistakes. I finished it with shellac and wax.

Wow this is beautiful in so many differebt ways! The wood is awesome! Love the colors and grain pattern. Your finish work is great and the hinges are perfect. She will love this and you better bring tissues for her tears of joy!

Well done sir!

The box was made from a 10” x 4” turning round. It comes pretty close to those dimensions

Very nice, love the contrasting wood colors and the finish is fantastic. Im currently making the same box. My first attemp i did in poplar to work out the bugs, (i made a few mistakes myself) im now starting the next in Purple Heart Wood.

That’s an awesome looking box. I really like the contrast and the colors you choose to use. You did a nice job.

I made a heart shaped box similar to yours many years ago for a girlfriend. A few years back I thought I’d make some more for Mother’s Day but couldn’t remember how I did it. I made mine using a jigsaw and a router. Second time round because I couldn’t remember how I did it I ended up making heart shaped bowls with a jigsaw and router.
