Wife and I got tired of falling to the ground in the middle of the night, so I decided to build us a new bed… This is the first bed that I have built, more to come in the future for my two daughters…Matching night stand to complete the bed…..hope you like!!

Looks nice. What did you use to finish it?

Nice job! Looks like used pine. How did you finish it?

I like the door you made for the nightstand. The latch is neat. Did you consider making it operable with the knob like THIS? The two hinges look a little too big, but I like the overall design.

Nice work! I agree with the others – the finish is very nice. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks everyone…..The finish was accomplished by a friend of mine that builds a lot of primitive furniture.. He paints with a flat paint then sands and sprays the entire project with a dark stain…He has showed me how to do this, but i dont have the set up to accomplish this effectively…I finished the night stand and the shelf in my other project, but decided not to finish any more until i get a better set up in the shop.. (Didnt like the mess it left behind with the cheap electric sprayer i had)

Chris, i’m glad you showed me the article, i would of never thought of latching a door like this. This may be something i try in the future… Have you used this technique? if so how did it turn out for you?
