With all the recent hand tool posts I thought I’d post my Krenov smoother I made a while back. This thing is a pure user with a 50 degree bed angle made from some laminated red oak and a jatoba sole. This plane has quickly become my go to smoother, especially for trickier grain. I’ve already got plans for a couple more. Also shown is a little plane hammer I made today with a 3/4” brass head and maple handle.

Very nice Aaron. Its performance looks outstanding. What blade did you choose?

Thanks, I went with the 2” Hock blade, but I will have to admit, the next one I plan on using the 1 3/4” blade. The width of the body is just a little too wide to be really comfortable.

Very nice plane. Its hard to make one plane and not have a craving to make more.

Beautiful. Love the organic shape. Looks like it would be a pleasure to use. I look forward to making some of these myself some day.
