My first square bowl

This is my first square bowl. I found an old cutting board that wasn’t ever used so I figured I’d make a square bowl after watching a video of one being done yesterday. The cutting board got cut in half so I got 2 blanks. The bowl stands 1 3/4” tall and 5 3/4” square. Handed to 320 grit and finished with Myland’s Friction Polish. All feedback is welcome.

Thanks for the comments yall..I tried one a while back on a screw chuck but didn’t get it centered so it didn’t turn out so I mounted this one on a face plate and that made a world of difference. I have another blank I’m going to make another and post it on here. I want to find a larger block to make a bigger bowl.

Ron, do you have your lathe working yet? I wish I had half that log of yours, I’d like to have a square chunk of that wood for one of these..I think it would look awesome with that grain. Waiting to see some bowls from you. I like that huge birdhoue u posted.

Adam, yes it’s running. Will post pictures soon. Have turned a couple candle sticks but no bowls… yet. Will post the candlesticks soon, too.
