That is great. I love porch swings to watch the sunset, or sunrise depending on where it’s facing.

Looks great. I never saw one using rope to hang it, always been a chain. I don’t think I could never get one to hang as straight and level as you did using rope. Good job.

Thanks Darell. It was old shrimp pot line I had. Everything here is realy expensive or you can’t get it, so I try to use whats on hand.
Thanks Willie1031, Sun doesn’t set this time of year this far north, but I’m sure we’ll use it the same

I get it now…Ak “Alaska” got it. I tried to get stationed there, but didn’t get so lucky.

No prob Willie, you’d be surprised how many times I’ve had to explain to a sales person on the phone that Alaska IS a state. My favorite is when they tell me that the shipping is only good for the continental US. I then have to explain that were ARE on the same continent. Leaves them baffled until I throw them a bone and say “do you perhaps mean, ‘Contiguous US’.” Of course they agree, but I know they still don’t know the difference.

Nice, looks clean to me. Great sense of humor I like it! The only way they would know Alaska is a state now a days is to look it up on an I Phone LOL
I thought the same thing when I saw the rope, is it strong enough? The I thought well if it pulls up pots then of course it is! I didnt get the nickname Overkill overnight :>)

Bob, this came out nice and I am sure you won a few brownie points with this swing. It sure adds a sense of welcome to your porch and looks like a great place to spend some time after a hard day in the shop.

well done… and it looks really comfortable… I like the rope idea over using chain… I think I would use a heavier rope, not for any additional strength, but because a larger diameter would feel a little better in the hand.
I think I will replace the rusty chain with rope on our front porch swing.
