After giving Barb the Box I made for her, I asked what she was going to

keep in the drawer.

Right away she said, ”A lot of the little things you’ve made me”.

I took a peek in the drawer, & she’d already had one item in there.

It was this pendant, I’d carved for her quite some time ago.

I’d almost forgot about it, but I had carved about a half dozen of these as gifts.

The pattern for this pendant was in the August 1995, issue of WOOD Magazine #80,

so if anyone is interested in trying to carve this, look for this issue.

It’s kind of a challenging, & fun design to carve.

This one is made of Birch burl.

The picture is rather large, but the actual size is about 2’’ across.

The small pictures above, look to be actual size.

Nice job,,,funny the things you remember sometimes. I remember this carving, probably still have that issue somewhere around here.

It’s a great piece, Dick, and it wonderful to have a wife who appreciates the loving care that went into the little things you’ve made for her over the years.

Dick, I am sure that you had forgotten about it but trust me your wife had not. If you read the fine print in your marriage contract it states that one of their jobs is to keep us on track. Thank goodness for that. A lot of us certainly need it.

Your box made a wonderful Valentine’s Day gift. Surely you need some kind of new tool so that you can do more work like this.

Thank you Blake,

It does look puzzling.

See if you can find the Wood Magazine, August 1995, #80, & try it yourself.
