Got a chunk of Mahogany from a friend that works in a custom door manufacturer. It was only about 12” x 8” x 2 3/8”. I decided to use my oblong template from a previous project that was about the same size of the blank and this was the result after clearing out the inside, sanding and applying a couple coats of clear poly.

Mahogany is my FAVORITE wood to work with, however I have very many many close contenders. I think I’ll endeavor to do something similar, only change I would make is to have the walls a bit thicker.

This is the first time working with Mahogany, and it ranks high on my list too. The walls are just under 1/2” thick with the size of the template and the size of the blank I didn’t have too much room to work with.
