We were asked to design a desk for a child that could be used for many years. We came up with a design that uses both new wood(bought) and reclaimed. The New wood was painted white to accent the reclaimed barn wood. The client wanted the desk to be placed in a small space yet have plenty of storage. The answer we came up with was to use cantilevered shelves that hang over the desk to maximize storage and space.

Most of the reclaimed wood we have is Pine and Oak. Still doing some research but i am fairly confident we have some American Chestnut as well. In this project it is pine, but i have not been able to find how or why the piece in the photo clearly shows an outline of a tree. I have never seen that before.

Nice desk, I like how you extended the shelves. Great resting place for small electronic items.
