This is my first attempt at chairs to go along with the table that I made. The chairs and table are made from spalted quarter-sawn american red gum (satin walnut) and sycamore (lace wood). The chair frames are of red gum with the seat & back of spalted sycamore. The table top is book-matched sycamore with red gum accents, mainly the breadboard, tie beam and feet of red gum. The pins are made of holly. The spalted sycamore started out as a quarter-sawn slab that was 23 1/2” wide x 4 1/2” thick x 7 feet in length. We cut the slab to make the book-match for the top and the remainder was used for the accents in the chairs. The table measures 38” wide x 85”in length x 1 3/4” in thickness.

This is exactly what I hope to accomplish one day, and that is a huge compliment because I have extremely high, almost unattainable standards.
