I should preface that I built this, but I did not make it.

A year and a half ago I bought this kit at Hobby Lobby to give me something to do until I had more money to buy more tools and be able to make proper projects. I started on it a year ago May and worked on it off and on. A few months ago I got married and have been collecting tons of new tools. Finally it was time to finish this thing off and get it out of my shop (maybe even sold if I’m lucky).

The kit came as sheets of pre-stamped pieces that I stained or painted, then assembled. I used paint colors to match those on the boxes as best I could. All of the roof shingles were individually placed. As always it looks good from a distance (especially if your not me), but when I get up close I see lots of boo-boos.

Now on to projects that need routers and saws and sanders and whatnot…

looks good. i hear ya about the boo boos. i got some nice reviews on my dollhouse but i know where the boo boos are. but then it’s not whether you can make things without boo boos, it’s whether you can hide them, right?

strickly from a curiosity standpoint, what did that kit set you back? and how big is it?

roger i had actually seen your doll house a few times…very nice especially considering you made it as well

I believe that the price tag on the photo of the box reads $29.99 (but I think I had a 40% coupon), plus paint, brushes, hot glue sticks, I probably have $50 total into it. And a lot of hours…

In terms of the size the website for the kit says it is 21” wide, 21” tall, and 14” deep.

Now hopefully I can find a new and loving home for it.

Saw your cat box, and now this. Have you considered building custom play houses?

Doc, thanks for the support. I had never even thought about building one, but I suppose I could maybe someday. Don’t have kids and don’t think I’d fit into one so I have no need for it right now. Maybe make one for my kids in a few years as a model and then do custom ones for others for sale.

I finally got this sold last week. Had to get rid of it before our move. I wanted $100, but got $75. Materials probably cost $50, so I didn’t make much for my time, but i think thats how it is a lot unless you are doing this for a living.
